Veterans Affairs Clinical Epidemiology Research Center

The Clinical Epidemiology Research Center (CERC), established in 2002, is part of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Cooperative Studies Program Coordinating Center at West Haven. The goals of the CERC are to: 1) serve as a center-of-excellence for epidemiological research within the Veterans Health Administration; 2) conduct methodological research that improves the standards of research design and data analysis in epidemiological studies; and 3) contribute to the educational environment at the combined West Haven-New Haven (VA-Yale) campus by providing formal training as well as hands-on experience in epidemiology, biostatistics, and related fields. A distinctive aspect of the Center is the extensive integration of clinical and statistical personnel and resources. The CERC oversees a budget of $2 million in fiscal year 2003 and is directed by John Concato, M.D., Associate Professor of Medicine at Yale University.
