Title: Prof of Pediatric Hematology and Pharmacology

Using tissue microarray immunostaining methodology, we are examining expression levels of various genes associated with metastasis and drug resistance in osteosarcoma. OS is a highly malignant bone tumor of occurring primarily in adolescents and young adults. It has a strong tendency for early metastasis. We are trying to uncover prognostic indicators which will help predict outcome, and may also be targets for molecular therapy. The tissue sample are being obtained from initial biopsy specimens from all patients treated on a Children's Oncology Group study. This international program encompasses virtually all patients with OS in the US, Canada, and Australia.
