Research
I am interested in nosocomial infections in infants and children. I am interested in the changing microbiology of neonatal infections and risk factors for the development of neonatal sepsis. I am currently involved in projects relating to infection surveillance in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) as well as studies looking at transmission of microorganisms in the NICU including risk factors for the development of infections due to antibiotic-resistant bacteria.

As a faculty member of the Emerging Infections Program I am involved in studies of neonatal sepsis in the State of Connecticut and the project on Unexplained Encephalitis. In this study we are performing surveillance throughout New Haven County for cases of encephalitis and use the laboratory expertise of Yale and the CDC to make a diagnosis of the underlying etiology.
